Trastevere hotels & places to stay

From the minute we arrived at this hotel we were greeted with a smile from friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is situated close to the lovely area of Trastevere and within a few minutes walk of lovely cobbled streets full of bars, restaurants and shops. It is within easy walking distance of the Vatican area and most of the popular sites, although I would suggest using the local transport to save on weary legs, as some of the sites are a substantial walk away. The hotel itself is set in lovely grounds and the rooms are very spacious, clean and well appointed. There is a roof terrace with beautiful views over Rome. Breakfast is excellent offering a good choice of hot and cold foods and the best coffee. Staff are helpful and friendly and seemed more than happy to offer advice and recommendations. We were here on our honeymoon and I could not have been happier with our choice. A great hotel at an affordable price. I would happily recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we were to go back to Rome, which we surely will as it is a fantastic city.

Extremely easy from Fiumicino : Train to Trastevere ( 25 minutes and 8 Euros ) Tram 8 stops outside the station and virually outside the hotel ( 4 minutes and 1.5 Euros ) . All the hotel staff were very smiley and obliging . The room opened on to the garden , and had a very comfortable bed and huge power shower . The breakfast offered a good range of sweet and savoury to stock up with before a days sight seeing . The location could not be better , Trastevere is a bustling neighbourhood with a safe ambience and is packed with interesting history an well as excellent places to eat and drink. ( the pizzeria Ivo is unmissable and literally round the corner ). The Relais' location makes everything in central Rome doable on foot - and I'm no athlete !! We visit Italy two or three time a year and le Clarisse is now a top budget recommendation for us . Finally , two tips : The culinary evening walking tour of Trastevere offers a mouth-watering experience of genuine Roman cuisine . Secondly take the short train ride ( from Ostiense station ) to Ostia Antica for a rural alternative to the Forum which is much less frenetic , but no less fascinating .

Short review: This is our go-to hotel in Rome. Longer review follows. The location is super convenient The hotel is less than 500 m from the Roma Trastevere train station. The #8 tram goes to Piazza Venezia and there is a stop across the street from the hotel. There are lots of good restaurants ( our fave is Pizza Boom, 50 meters away toward the station), there’s a grocery store and a laundry nearby too. The hotel itself is excellent. It’s clean, the a/c is cold, water is hot and the staff is friendly and accommodating. My only negative comments are that there was no fridge in our room and that breakfast is not included. Breakfast is available for €7.20 per day per person and in my opinion iwas not worth the cost. You’re paying for the convenience, but there are plenty of nearby places to buy a caffé and a croissant for less than 3 euro, including the aforementioned Pizza Boom.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was larger than expected and everything was exceptionally clean. The tram stop and bus stops are directly outside the front door. The front desk attendants were exceptionally nice, helpful and friendly. They were very knowledgeable and were one of the best parts of our stay. The free internet was great and very helpful. If you are considering Rome or Trastevere though, staying in Trastevere is a must!!! The only small issues were that it was a little bit removed from the life of Trastever. It was only 2 tram stops, but after all day walking in Rome it would have been nice to be closer because the tram stops at midnight. The roof top bar is extremely expensive and you cannot bring your own drinks. It's only open from 5 - 12 and the bar tender was frightfully rude. We tried twice, then stayed away, so that was a complete waste of an amenity.

The structure of the place and location is perfect. Only are thing is that the small fridge in room was broken and made lot of heat, found old open and used bottle of water inside from previous stay, the big bath takes literally 3h to fill with a very slow flow of water and not even hot, WiFi not working, tv with just a bunch of Rai channels and the whole parking situation is not explained at all. Few socket inside the house didn’t work and many light bulbs are missing or not working. For the place and price I was expecting more, the advertise it as luxury Trastevere but that’s not luxury at all when most of the house is a let down. The place in se per se is a stunning building from 1600 and the interior and decor is stunning. Probably if the owner starts investing a bit more on the place and takes real care of it it can be a 5 star but for my short stay I feel that was barely a 3. Too many let down in every side I was looking.

Nice little hotel, tucked away in the area of Trastevere. It was rather difficult to get here from the Airport, we took the train from Fiumicino airport to the train station in Trastevere and thought we would catch a taxi to the hotel but the taxi drivers weren't very helpful and we were asked to walked there with all our luggage! In the end we caught a tram and walked from the nearby tram station to the hotel. Apart from that? the hotel is superb!! the rooms are a bit old but has character.. showers were good and hot water available whenever you need it. Breakfast provided had a good variety and staff here are really really nice! There is a nice courtyard where you can enjoy your breakfast there in the mornings or just chill with a glass of wine during the evening after a long days walk. The hotel is located in the area of Trastevere and there are plenty of restaurants just outside the hotel and a street market is just a street away. The piazza near the hotel comes to life at night with street performance and food food food! Travelling to the other parts of Rome is also rather convenient.. you can walk to Piazza Navona or take a tram to the Roman forums and bus to the Vatican city. This is a really nice and cosy hotel and i wish we had more time to spend inside the hotel but too bad there is just too much to see in Rome!

i was traveling with my family and we took two rooms at b&b ventisei. the reason for choosing this b&b was because of the wonderful reviews i'd read online. and true enough, this was one of the best memories i have of rome. the owners, a warm and friendly couple waited for us after we called them from the cab to tell them we were on the way from the airport. they even gave us a bottle of lovely italian red as a welcome gift. there is no elevator up to the b&b, which was on the 3rd storey. the steps were steep so my parents (in their 60s) were a little worried about the climb and lugging of bags. that was the only downside, but if you're young and able bodied, there is no problem at all. the location is superb. we were in the heart of trastevere. there is an amazing pizzaria (a nice big pizza for only 10 euros!) and other fantastic restaurants around. thanks to the owners lucia and her husband for introducing the eateries. b&b ventisei is comfortable and we slept well every night. the fruits and food were replenished daily and we had our lovely breakfast before setting off to check out the sights in rome. i would definitely go back to b&b ventisei when i visit rome again. i already miss this place!

Cute little hotel in a quiet location in Trastevere close to lots of cute bars, coffee shops and restaurants. Close to tram which will get you to and from Roma Trastevere FL1 train (easier to use to and from airport than the Leonard Xpress to Termini station). I would choose the Superior Room due to it being the only room on the 2nd floor and very quiet with a nice sized terrace without much view (although be aware, small skinny stairwell to get up there). Tiny shower which is usual for Italy but very tiny. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Spacious room which can easily fit two people comfortably.Highlight has to be the location as its close to so many bars and restaurants ranging from budget to Michelin Star. My overall summary is: Bed: 5/5 - large bed comfy enough to sleep two and get a great nights sleep Attractions Close by: 5/5 - too many great restaurants and bars to name! Value for money: Based on location and space, don't think you can get a better suite than this Facilities: You have access to an outdoor sitting area and other amenities such as coffee, tea etc

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Trastevere 209 Guesthouse, except maybe the first few minutes... We arrived there late on a Friday night, and hopefully we had booked an airport transfer via Agoda, because I am not sure we would have ever found that place. The building looks very residential, and there is absolutely no sign outside letting you know that you are in the right place. Luckily, our driver knew where to go and even rang the door bell of the Guesthouse to let our host know that we were there. Once you are buzzed in, you go through a very cold lobby (looks like a hospital by day, and a prison at night), then go in a small, old, shaky elevator that fits only 2 people with (not too much) luggage. Happily, once you actually get to the Guesthouse, you can relax and enjoy the quiet & well appointed apartments. A fantastic breakfast brought to your suite entry door every morning just seals the deal. We just wouldn't recommend this hotel for single ladies, as the area can be a bit scary at night. Overall, fantastic trip in Rome, 5 minute walk to wonderful Trastevere, which has great nightlife and restaurants.

This b&b is excellent in terms of location. You are right in Trastevere area and can walk to any restaurant from there. You can reach the city centre on foot or take a tram or bus for about 4 stops. The price was good for the location however the place needs some minor refurbishment. We could hear some traffic from our room but there may be quiter rooms not facing the main road. The staff is friendly and very helpful.

Well located in Trastevere close to lots of great and lively dining spots but just far enough away to be peaceful. There's a tram stop right outside and 3 of the bridges across the Tiber into the centre of Rome are just a few minutes' walk away. Eduardo helpful and on top of everything in the guesthouse, so no worries there. Just 3 rooms, and I'm planning to go back there with a couple of colleagues on a work trip and book the entire place!

Wonderful B&B in the nicest area. Owner friendly and welcoming and a really nice atmosphere in the house. Spacy, clean and nice rooms and baths. Enjoyed the aircon, which was silent - Rome is hot in July. Really good and varied breakfast, which we enjoyed at the roof terrace, big and with a brilliant view. There are a couple of turtles and cats which the kids enjoyed a lot. All in all - we have been here in 2007 as a couple and loved it, and now 9 years later, we come back with two small kids and still love it. Our best recommendations to il Boom and Angelo.

Trastevere rooms is an one of my good experience for my first visit in Rome. Vincent the owner is really decent and helpful. The hotel location is in the nice area easy to commute to train station or visit the tourist attactions. Near by area you can find nice restaurant and cafe easily. The room condition is nice and clean as per the pictures. I'll be back there again for my next trip in Rome

Fantastic location to acess heaps of restaurants within walking distance and all the major sites with tram around the corner. The rooms wwre exceptionally clean and well serviced. Roberto was brillant and very helpful and made breakfast each morning. We thought the accommodation was great value for money and would stay again. The only difficultly we had was locating the resort as is on the first level, but phone Roberto when you arrive and he will assist.

This is a very service minded and kind hotel! We arrived much later than what was the normal check in time, and with very short notice, the head receptionist were there to check us in anyway. In the morning, they gave us a map over Rome and spent a long time circling things out and explaining to us how and where to go. They gave us great tips on where to go, but I have to say that this hotel lies in the middle of the most cosy and authentic part of Rome, Trastevere, where you find all the narrow walking streets, all the authentic trattorias, osterias and pizzerias, and almost only italians (very few tourists). This is the place to be if you want some space from all the tourists you just met at the Colosseum, and to be honest, you can spend an entire day just walking around the area and take it all in. We spent two days on this! The best part is that there is a free open air cinema just on the other side of this hotel's block that seems to be open and playing movies in the evening during the whole summer from June through August! If you come here during summer, be sure to pick up the cinema program! We had gotten a triple room for a great deal, without a breakfast package. Usually, in the morning, you have to hang up the "do not disturb" sign before 10 AM to not have your room cleaned if you wish to sleep in. We forgot this and only managed to tell the cleaning lady that we were still in there, sleeping, right before she was about to enter. We apologized as she had prepared her tools and schedule around cleaning our room, but instead of being angry, she gave us fresh towels and some left over chocolate croissants and pineapple juice even though food wasn't included in our price! The same thing with the food happened over again the next day! The day before we were leaving, the head receptionist fixed us a taxi to the airport for 04:30 in the morning. Overall, we had a great experience!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Arco dei Tolomei is a small guest house; what we would call a B&B in the States. Would highly recommend if you like small, quaint accommodations; serving an European breakfast (fruit, yogurt, pastry, breads, meats & cheese). Close to restaurants (Marco and Gianni were very helpful in recommending and reserving of where to eat); within walking distance to some of Rome's most beautiful churches and museums. Located about a block from the Tiber River - perfect for an evening stroll.

This is a great little hideaway, if you can find it. 16 Vicolo del Cinque is an unmarked doorway with no indication that you have reached your destination. This is probably why they provide a transfer service from the airport. Alas, my transfer failed and they advised me by text message to take a taxi. Only when I entered the long corridor at No 16 and climbed a stairway did I find a minuscule sign on a door. Once you're there, preferably in the Trilussa room, things get better. You are smack in the middle of Trastevere - if Rome can be said to have an 'old' precinct, this is it - with all the street cafes, speciality shops and bars you can manage, but your room is as quiet as a tomb - a modern double with splendid en suite. The only hotel personnel I saw in my four-night stay was the delightful Alena, who made me great coffee each morning and made up my room. In effect, you are renting a room in an apartment block. But beware - I still haven't received the promised 50 euro refund of my taxi fare, despite protracted correspondence.
