“Wonderful people; great location; but many shortcomings”
This is a challenging review to write. We very much liked the lovely staff here, and it’s located so well for exploring Hue. Water pressure was reasonable and hot water plentiful, and wifi was generally reliable. But there were many challenges that made our one week stay difficult . First off, the design of the building seems to funnel sound from the main floor upwards to the guest rooms. Every morning we were awakened early by the sounds of chairs moving or people talking on the main floor. This was made all the more challenging by how bright the room was at night. For some reason there is a large window facing the stairwell and hallway, and lights remained on all night. The curtains on that window, and the exterior window, let in far too much light. We resorted to using our sleep masks (usually reserved for flights) to help us sleep. As for the room, it was cold and damp for our entire stay. Unlike our homestay in Tam Coc the AC unit did not have a heat function, so the room was uncomfortably cold. We asked about getting some kind of heater but were told that nothing was available. And the dampness was a big issue. Water was literally running down the inside of our window, clothes hanging in the closet got damp, and towels hanging in the bathroom never dried. Because the room was already cold running the AC to dehumidify wasn’t an option, and the AC unit had neither a heat nor a drying setting. Finally, our room was only serviced once during our entire stay, and that was only to wash the floor, leave fresh towels and make the bed (Note: the sheets and duvet were not changed). Overall, given that breakfast was not included in the price we don’t feel that we received good value for money here.
