horrendous stay… had to leave early”
i have never been so disappointed about a vacation in YEARS like i have with this one. based on the photos listed online you would think the hotel is a pretty nice stay. upon arrival we were sent to a building off to the left that reeked of marijuana and looked run down. our room was on the third floor with an ocean view so we figured the room might make up for the ugly halls and odors. upon entering the room we already noticed the carpet stains (mind you this is a PET FRIENDLY HOTEL WITH CARPETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!) stains upon stains on the carpets in the main bedroom and the living room. the balcony was absolutely wretched, AC water leaks onto the balcony which caused the concrete to crack and crumble and be black with mold and mildew so we didn’t even bother using the balcony as it was unpleasant to be there. the lack of tables and chairs in this room was appalling, one small table for eating with 2 chairs, the living room didn’t even have a coffee table for extra surface space and the kitchen was just disappointing. in the living room there’s also one of those murphy beds that come out from the wall which was nice at first until we saw how dirty it was behind that crevice, absolutely disgusting. there is barely any lighting in the rooms, you’re going to be depending on very dim lamps to light up the room after the sun goes down and be prepared to be locked out of your room multiple times because the keycards decide they want to stop working at random times. but everything I have said up until now isnt even the worst part. THE ROACHES!!!! I can be snobby about so many things when it comes to upkeep and cleanliness, but I draw the line at disgusting and invasive bugs like ROACHES. in the middle of the night i woke up to a roach crawling on my bed and i hit my breaking point. it was night 4 of our 7 day stay and i cut it short. we drove over 10 hours from new jersey and we left just after 4 days because this was absolutely horrendous. we did not leave the comfort of our own clean and bug free home to stay in a place like this for a week. absolutely not. the photos are extremely misleading and the laughable part is that they charge a resort fee (mind you again, the only resort amenity this place offers is 1 small outdoor pool. no gym, no indoor pool or hot tubs, no restaurant on site, nothing!) when this place doesn’t even come close to being as good as a drive up motel. TAKE THIS AS A WARNING, do not book this place, if this is your only option left for a stay in myrtle beach, save your money and just plan another destination or another date at a later time when there are better places available. The only positive aspect of this hotel is the location because it’s very close to the myrtle beach hotspots like the SkyWheel and boardwalk.

I've stayed at the Sandcastle twice now. I will stay again. It is clean, the room was fresh and ice cold AC, great balcony with an Oceanfront view! The pool is decent with a lazy river, music and a little tiki bar. Lots of families enjoying their stay. I stayed on the 9th floor with a partial ocean view the first time. It was bike week and a great view of all the action & the ocean. Last visit was over the 4th. Had an ocean view overlooking the pool. I loved it! For the money this is a great place to stay. Always clean, staff od super friendly. I gave 5 stars on everything.

The Pros The location was good, the beds were comfortable, hotel reasonably priced and nice staff as well. The Cons Booked a room with a kitchenette and did not get it or have the issue fixed. Ran out of towels and toilet paper and it took 10 hrs to get either. It also took 3 different visits to the front desk to get these items and we weren't the only room who had the same complaint. The drinks at the pool have prices listed but they were all wrong and I was charged more on two different occasions and the bartender said the prices were never updated. The pools were so dirty and smelled like sulfur. No toilet paper or soap in the ladies bathroom when you first enter the hotel tower Ice machines were broke Charged $165 extra for resort fees for 6 day stay and didn't get services such as room service, wifi not working, laundry not available for multiple days and being told if we wanted trash or any kind of room service we had to ask for it and even then it didn't happen.

Perfect for a quick weekend getaway in Myrtle Beach”
The resort was surprisingly perfect. Very slight shortfalls, but nothing worth complaining about. Check-in was smooth - 4 folks working the desk - more problems with the people checking in and leaving their cars in the middle of the limited space out front -- but the team at the desk did excellent. Only one elevator, but easy access to stairs on either end made it easy if the elevator was slow. Room was very clean, beds comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly, shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Our room overlooked the pool and was ocean front. Ice machines on the first floor worked fine, never ran out. I was traveling with my 15 year old son, so he was hoping for strong internet -- not really working well, at least for us on the third floor, but not worth much of a ding on the hotel. Overall, great quick weekend at a great price. Thanks.

First the staff at the front desk AMAZING ! Very helpful !! walks into hotel , first thought ‘this area needs an upgrade’. Get to our room , the room smelled old (you know what smell I’m talking about), furniture old (tv had its own home ), spit marks on the sink handle and mirror, blood under the desk, finally ROACH on top of the ac unit . Called told them this list and without hesitation got an upgrade. I loved how easy it was no hassle at all but it had to be common .! Got to the “upgraded” room . Everything the same furniture wise. Bathroom smaller but cleaner I guess . And that smell !!! We went to Walmart and tried to bomb the room ! NOPE ! That didn’t work . But we had ocean front babyyyy . That was the best thing about the hotel, the balcony they provided so we can enjoy the oceans beauty and sound. That was it, literally. For the price compared to the other hotels it was worth it ? I’m not sure. The hotel is in a great location they just need an upgrade .! A big one! I thank them for my safe stay and the balcony .
