San Giovanni hotels & places to stay

The location is very good. Near Metro, and train station. You can get the train from the Fiumicino airport to Roma Tuscolana train stain and about 10 minutes a walk to the hotel. So the cost of getting into the city from the airport is very affordable. However, the front of the hotel is small, you have to remember the picture of the front of the hotel. It is exactly similar to the picture. The room is small, but acceptable. The shower room has no curtain to prevent the running water splashing out of the shower room.

A couple of days before my flight to Rome, I was informed by M&L Apartment that the apartment (Ardesia) I booked had a faulty tap and they arranged for my family to stay in another apartment (Caracalla, Via Gallia 96) instead. So the above review ratings are for Caracalla apartment, NOT Ardesia. LOCATION The Caracalla apartment is quite a distance from the Metro (which was our initial preferred method of transport in Rome) - it was a 7-9 minutes walk away. There is a bus stop right at the entrance of the apartment building where you could catch a bus to the metro. As it turned out, we used buses more frequently than the Metro as there were many buses that brought us back to the Caracalla apartment. It was also more convenient for us to get around via buses to avoid long tunnels and flight of stairs at the Metro stops. From our apartment, there are several buses that bring us directly to the various tourist attractions & bus tickets can be easily bought at the Tabacchi shops around the neighbourhood. We really loved the location at Via Gallia 96 as there was a 24 hour Carrefour supermarket across the road, a number of restaurants, gelato house, a popular cafe Sacco and a fabulous food joint I Vecchi Sapori (where my family & I had breakfast at EVERY SINGLE DAY throughout our stay)! BUILDING & APARTMENT FACILITIES There is a washer for laundry, sufficient clean towels to last us for 6 days, 3 individual air conditioning units (which you can set & adjust for each room), lift in the building (albeit a really really small lift that could only fit 1-2 passengers maximum) and heaters to brave cold nights. The only issue we had was that the neighbours were making too much noise - at 2-3am, we could hear neighbours chatting, loud TV sounds and ringing mobile phones. There are not that many apartments for rent in Rome, and this one was cheaper than the others so we were not sure how good it would be. It surpassed our expectations! I don't think the description does it justice. There are two rooms and two bathrooms. The master bedroom is connected to a bathroom. The other bedroom is a reasonable size and the bathroom is located in the hallway. There is a small/reasonable size kitchen and dining room. Here is a tip for you: Get off at the Re Di Roma metro stop (A line). This lets you out in a grassy park area. The apartment is a few block from there. You actually have to walk through an outdoor walkway into an outdoor cafe sitting area to reach it. It was kind of strange, but just be sure to send your arrival time so someone can meet you. I suggest you book this apartment!

My friend and I stayed here for 4 days and we had an overall excellent experience! We were welcomed by Giacomo--who gave us directions and maps, gave recommendations for places to eat. There were also available guidebooks in the reception area which you can borrow. The room and the adjacent bathroom and the kitchen were spotlessly clean and they were cleaned daily. The kitchen was not only open for breakfast but you can come in for snacks whenever, they have different pastries and fruits available. And the coffee was excellent! You would have your own milk carton and bottle of orange juice in the fridge. Giacomo also went out of his way to make reservations for a cab company to pick us up on our way to the train station. I would highly recommend this place, it was the best B & B we stayed at, it's like staying in a hotel! Thanks Giacomo and Carolina!

Superb location in San Giovanni. Many options to eat within walking distance.Grocery store nearby. Hotel new & very clean. Close to train station. Taxi drive from FCO airport is 48euros. Hotel does not have elevator but staff helped with luggage. Frederico was very helpful. Hotel is 20 minutes drive from Vatican, approx. 16-20 euros by taxi. Train is a cheaper option.Overall enjoyable stay.

We stayed at St John's Terrace for two nights while spending a 3 day weekend in Rome. We had a room with an external bathroom but private. The bedroom is nice and modern and everything was very clean. It is a big appartment with several rooms on a seventh floor with elevator. We arrived at around 10.30 am and already got the room available so we could leave our things. The lady working there is very nice and friendly and very helpful with everything. The place is also well located for the transport, there is a bus stop 100 metres away and the metro station at around 5 minutes walk. Breakfast is served in the morning at the terrace and is pretty ok to get your day started. The day we left, we could leave our things and come back in the afternoon before leaving Rome. I was very pleased with the stay and I would highly recommend this place in Rome!

I would highly recommend this apartment! First of all, the location is very convenient: from the airport we arrived by train to a station which was at close distance from the apartment, as well as from the metro station and bus stops from where it is easy to reach the city centre. Secondly, the room is spacious, clean, modern, with your own shower. In the common area you have microwave, kettle, and what is really nice and makes it special: tea/coffee, milk, fruit, cookies. But what struck me most was the view from the balcony! What a panorama while you have your breakfast or dinner. We were really impressed with the hospitality of the owner from the first minute we booked the hotel. We received all the necessary information how to reach the hotel, was easy to communicate on phone and ready to help with any question. All in all, our stay was very pleasant and i have nothing to add what should be improved.

After arriving in Rome on a hot autumn eveining and getting to the hotel we were given a warm welcome even though our flight had been delayed. Andreas was more than helpful giving us a map and circling what was best to see giving us bus and metro routes. Also we recommend whoever stays in Rome for liesure to get a ROMA PASS this was only 30euro's and was well worth it. Breakfast was nice and simple. Air con was great, all in all we loved it!!!

we had very happy stay with b&b a home for holiday. the apartment has only three rooms, it is therefore quiet to stay there. the owner is super helpful, lovely and friendly even though he couldn't speak so much english. he gave us the free map and guide book and showed us very carefully how to get to the visiting places. we got pick pocketed in rome and the owner and his daughter were very helpful to show us what to due with the situation. he did not take the city tax (eur 1.8/ person/ night) for the entire of our stay either, he said "presents for you because you got pick pocketed". the apartment also has kitchen with all the cooking equipment and oil and spice, you have everything you need to cook your dinner - asian or european style! there are chocolate, juice and soft drinks and bread available in the kitchen all day and of course they are all for free! the location is great as well - only 300m meters from the s.giovani metro station and from this point, it is only two stops to get to the termini central train station which is close to everything. the surrounding area is also covered with lots of shopping malls and good, budget restaurants. even though it is located in a busy area, it is still very quiet during night time. the only negative thing for our stay was that it was so hot and the only fan in our room was not enough, we couldn't sleep at night when all the doors and windows were closed. it could have been better if the room had an air-con. overall, we had a pleasant stay and highly recommend it. we will stay here again if we are back in rome.

The B&B is nice, clean and located very close to Re di Roma metro station (4 stations only from Termini). The area is quiet and nicely local. Room spacious and comfortable. The shared bathroom is very well-maintained and clean. Fast wifi, breakfast option very limited but can find many option around the place. Be mindful that they have specific time for check-in. The owner was nice and helpful. Very good value for money.
