This is our second stay at the Scotsman. It was an amazing hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. Located on the North Bridge and just a block off the Royal Mile it is perfectly placed. It has the flavor of Scotland. Our room was a corner room on the 6th floor, it was clean, bright providing stunning views. The only surprise was the missing bar and restaurant and spa!! But we were told the new owner is working on it!!! Love this hotel, would stay every time I visit!

Great! Simply Great for an affordable price! Hotel management knows their differences compared to other city hotels, and they are trying their best to cover up those differences. The room was wonderful with all the amenities provided with regard to its price. Layout of the room was good too, not too narrow, and the wide bathroom. Also the view from the windows was open and freshing. Making you feel that you are in Edinburgh. Good Wi-Fi as well. Breakfast is same in every and each hotel, traditional scottish. Lifts were reliable and quick. It might seem a little further up the city centre compared to others but actually just 7 mins walk and we were on The mile end. Car parking is limited, but the street is available until 8:30 in the mornings. Only few stains in the bathtub is the negative thing we could say. The toileteries were wonderful btw. I wouldn't think for a minute if I 'd go to Edinburgh again.

I booked the junior suite and believe it was very good value for money. The receptionist was very accommodating and helpful throughout. The room is more or less standard size of a hotel room, however, it comes with a kitchen which is seperate from the sleeping area. As I spent over a week in Edinburgh it was very convenient to be able to store food in the fridge and cook some small dishes, rather than having to head out for every meal. The Haymarket station is within 5-8 minutes walking distance, depending on one's walking pace. The 100 Airlink bus shuttles 24\7 to and from the airport and takes about 25 minutes. Very handy! The city centre is also within walking distance and takes about 10 - 15 minutes by foot, which is well wort it as along the route you get to see some beautiful architecture and get a sense of the city vibe. I really enjoyed my stay and would book it again if my work commitments require me to go to Edinburgh once more.

I have never been to a hotel where the staff are so friendly, and welcoming. The spa facilities and pool are perfect. The pool is like jumping into a warm bath, magical when it’s nippy outside. The beds are super comfy, the rooms are luxurious and very clean, the shower is fab. Also the breakfast, wow this will set you up for the day, there is everything you could possibly wish for. What more can I say, apart from I can’t wait for another trip to Scotland so I can go back.

this was one of the best stay we ever had for Europe trips. The apartment is nicely size. With a nice sofa area, a full kitchen with all the utensils, bowls and plates. There was oven and a washing machine. Toilet is good size too. The Tv screen had helpful information and the staffs were very friendly and helpful. Prior to this we stayed in a 4 stars hotel in London and we think this is way better. Location is within walkable distance to sights and shops. only feedback we have is the bed is abit hard. But that’s just our bed preference. Overall we Would definitely recommend this place to any one who will be visiting edinburgh.

I laugh at the reviews that describe the "dated" decor and amenities. The suite we had was spacious and charming and provided everything we needed. We had a huge, well-appointed bathroom. We had to move around the space heaters to warm it up a bit but so what? If we had wanted a cookie cutter chain hotel we would have booked it. Ugh. This hotel was grand and beautiful. We were transported back in time which added to the charm, mystique, and character of our first stay in Scotland and the staff was SOOO welcoming and accommodating. I will gladly stay here again!

booked a short stay for Christmas shopping, the hotel is 5-10 mins from the end of Princess Street. The staff gave us a warm welcome,, the room was nice and warm and very clean. On the day of departure we asked if we could leave our suitcases as we still had a days shopping to do. No problem. When we returned to the hotel on the evening we were asked if we wanted to help ourselves to tea or coffee from the library even though we had checked out on the morning. We will certainly use this hotel again and have already recommend it to some of our friends. Excellant customer service.

We booked the 2 bed Apartment for 2 nights and 3 days. The check in was smooth and efficient, the apts have a secure underground car park for which you are given a fob for entry in and out. This took the hassle of city parking away and the cost, there is an excellent bus service 100 yds or so up the road which cost £1.60 single per adult and took you straight into the city centre, a journey of around 20mins or so. The apartment itself was fab! Clean, spacious, bright and airy and as we were on the 5th floor, we had amazing views of the harbour and beyond to the River Carron. All higher floors easily accessible by lift which also took you down to the car park should you need. Handy for taking luggage in as its so near to the lift. The only thing I would say to improve the apartment further is ( ours was room B23) both bedrooms need a basic unit in front of the full length mirror and a stool or chair in order to dry hair and apply makeup etc as I'm not able to stand to do this and the light in the main bathroom isn't suitable? Seems minor but to ladies this is quite important! T

My husband and I stayed in early April for the weekend and were greeted by a glass of complimentary champagne. The rooms are all bespoke, our room had a “Rio” theme and featured carnival photos and Christ the Redeemer covered one wall. The full Scottish breakfast featured haggis and potato scones and was delicious. The bar was very busy in the afternoon with locals having to book a table! The only drawback was the nightclub that is underneath the bar and was as you would expect very noisy on Saturday night. The hotel does provide a sleep pack featuring ear plugs and a pillow spray. As it happened a full day walking around Edinburgh was enough to wear us out, so we had no need of the sleep pack. The staff were very attentive and willing to help store luggage etc if needed.

First time in UK and Scotland, we went there for honeymoon trip. Apex waterloo location is perfect as it close to waverley station and any other attractions including cartlon hill, edinburgh castle, etc everything are on walking distance. The room itself is pretty small considering we have 2 big luggages. The bathroom was pretty big i suppose but no bathtub. The bed was the highlight of this hotel, it was really comfortable and we slept like a baby.

Best thing about this hotel is the location. If you are a tourist that's the best thing for you. You can walk from Waverly railway station or bus station even with some luggage. Also if you have booked with Rabbies for Scotland tour then it's located next door. I didn't have food here. But this review page forces you to put some rating. Check in and checking out were hassle free and fast, sleep quality was good. Elevator is bit old and creaky. Hot water was available all the time. Wifi was free and worked well. All in all a comfortable stay and would recommend it to others who have similar needs as mine

We booked a three nights stay over New year to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a King size deluxe room with a great view of the castle. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and assisted us with any information we needed on the area to enhance our stay. The breakfast had a choice of continental or a hot breakfast items and was continuously being monitored so that items were replenished. The hotel was within easy walking access to all the main city centre attractions and shops, as well as restaurants and bars.

I arrived at 7.30am after a 30 hour flight and on arrival said I knew I was exceptionally early and if I could leave my bags. The staff insisted on arranging my room to be cleaned so I could shower and relax. I also had a booking the second night as a twin share under another friends name so they arranged the rooms to be the same. truely the best service I've yet to receive, especially as they proactively try to see where they can make you stay more convenient and enjoyable. The room size is very generous, with all the comforts such as pillow selection, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with plenty of hot water. The location can not be beat - on the royal mile, near the princess at bridge for those who love to shop. I've stayed in many 5 star hotels and this trumps most - and is only rated 4 star which I struggle to understand. All round exceptional, can't fault it and will be staying here again!!

checking in and out was easy and staff were very polite and attentive especially in the restaurant although their menu was not exactly up to the 4 star rating of the hotel. access to the hotel was easy at all hours and access to individual floors was securely restricted by the use of room keycard only. the free room safe feature was a plus with guest able to set own code. room having its own iron and ironing board was appreciated as we were attending a family wedding. i would use hotel and agoda again.

This Hotel is located just off Princes Street, a short walk from the tram. The hotel is just up from Rose Street, so its location is close to many of the pubs and clubs of the city so Saturday night you may hear some noise but it really wasn't an issue. There is a climb to the rooms up stairs but staff on hand to give you a hand with your luggage if needed. The rooms are clean and the hotel is very welcoming. All the rooms are of different layouts, our group made use of a triple and 2 single rooms one was not ensuite, not an issue but be aware when booking i realise some might not like that. On the hole a lovely central B&B :)

The moment we walked in the front door, we knew we were going to love this hotel. We had the great pleasure of being greeted by Peter Binnie, who was the afternoon manager for our entire stay. He was friendly, engaging and made some great suggestions for places to visit. Even more impressive, as my husband and I were wandering down one of the streets that Peter had recommended to us, who should we bump into, but Peter and, rather than rush past and pretend he hadn't noticed us, he stopped for a chat and pointed out a couple of more things that we might enjoy. Our room was spotless, the beds comfy and the breakfast generous, with probably the best view in Edinburgh, and we found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful, but Peter was an absolute standout. We would definitely book here, again, if we return.

This hotel was definitely not good value for money, our full room was about the size of a box bedroom. Bed was comfy although it seemed like our heating didn't work right as the room was freezing the whole time! We spoke to reception about it and they said it's connected the same way the electricity is so that when you put your room card in the wall slot this is when it turns on. What kind of hotel in Scotland in the winter doesn't heat the whole hotel all the time?!! We ended up stepping out into the hall to try warm up! Even after leaving it on all night the room was still ice cold. Also it says they have onsite parking, this means they have about 5 spaces behind the hotel which will be taken unless you get there first thing. Meaning you have to pay to park on the street. Loved the apex Waterloo when we stayed there but definitely won't be back to the apex city of Edinburgh.

By far, one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. When I first arrived at Angels Share Hotel it was late at night, almost 11, and when I walked into the door I just saw a pub and was quite confused. I went back outside and into the other door and it was still the pub/restaurant part. The bartender saw me, came up to me and asked if I needed help. He then walked me to the reception desk (which is on the 2nd floor) and the receptionist helped me from there. On the day I left, I had to leave at 3:30a.m and the receptionist called ahead of time for me and as soon as I walked out the door the morning I had to leave, the taxi driver was there waiting for. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be coming back to this hotel. The staff are the nicest people I have ever met and very helpful at that. I will save the details about the pub & room for you all to find out. But, the pub and room are just simply breathtaking. Defiantly worth the money. MY ONLY COMPLIANT: I had no idea how to turn down the heat in my room.

We travelled as a party for an event being held at a larger hotel.Being unable to book a room at the larger hotel we decided to stay at the Apex as it was close to the event .We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed .The staff were really friendly and helpful,We had a wonderful time and everyone agreed that we should return to the Apex at another time .

I was there three nights. Got there early for check in but they had a room ready so let me check in there and then. Room was a great size - really large for a hotel room. Location is right round the corner from Grassmarket so brilliant for unique little places and bars and restaurants and a nice walk up to the Royal Mile. I ate twice in the hotel and was impressed with the quality of the food. My only complaints would be that the heating wasn't great - didn't seem to make much of a difference when I had it on. Also, the shower was too hot and I couldn't seem to change the temperature - close to scalding temperature. I did let them know at front desk and they said they would have a look but I didn't notice any difference. Great size bathroom with a bath and a separate shower and the toilet itself completely separate. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small but cute! I would happily stay there again.

Me and my teenage daughter loved the raddison red our room was very modern the super hero theme is Amazing and our room was.very spacious and very clean the toilet was massive, loved the shower. We were top floor so we had a view. We also loved the sky bar which u must see if staying at this hotel.The beds have to be one of the best I've slept in and I'd definitely recommend the breakfast, you'll not need to eat anything else all day so much variety from crossiants to cereal to full English. This is also a dog freindly hotel so next time we will be bringing ours, not that we saw many dogs at all. All in all I'd highly recommend this hotel it's modern has Amazing rooms food is lovely and the staff really can't do enough for you, so freindly .we will be coming back

We had one of the garden level rooms and it was quiet, fairly spacious and had a lovely bathroom. The wifi was the best we had in our two weeks traveling around Scotland and we appreciated the bit of sherry left in the room for the guests. We were tired on arrival and decided to have dinner at the hotel our first night which was not only surprisingly good, but at extremely reasonable prices. The included breakfast was also good, though on Sunday, service was a bit slow due to the full dining room. The hotel is a bit more than 1.5 miles from the main tourist areas of Edinburgh and we enjoyed the quiet walk back and forth, though buses are available. The staff were consistently friendly and we received some helpful advice for our touring, including discount coupons for the sightseeing bus tours. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

This hotel is literally a few minutes walk from the airport terminal so if it is a nice day and you don't have a lot of luggage you could walk to your flight. However it is Scotland and it was freezing and pouring with rain and I had three suitcases with me. One of which I could handle. The staff were brilliant at helping me with my bags both inwards and outwards. Unfortunately I couldn't try the pool as it was under refurbishment but overall if you have an early flight at Edinburgh and you want a place to stay overnight you can do no better.
