Lovely hotel, Not so nice area.”
Just having arrived the city, and being completely new to it, I found that Google Maps kept wanting me to go down dirty, dodgey, and possibly dangerous alleyways to get to the hotel- eventually I saw a girl coming out so I dared to venture down and around eventually coming to the entrance of a rather modern and chic hotel. NOTE: The hotel is enveloped by dirty dingy and rather destitute alleys that I would not dare go into at night. To avoid this, stick to the Main road until you get to Parnell Street, or if you've got the funds- take a taxi when arriving with baggage. I took a shuttle that dropped me not so so close, but not too far- yet with baggage it seemed endless. One affordable option, from the airport, is take a shuttle to the closest drop off spot possible, THEN a taxi to the hotel- you can walk into any restaurant/pub/shop/hotel and I'm sure they would be kind enough to help you order one. Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted as a guest should be and check-in was simple enough. They were renovating at the time, so I had to go to another entrance, but the good news is they had that other entrance AND ELEVATORS! This is something I made sure was part of the facilities- Europe is old, so some places did not have elevators when I first traveled around it, so I made sure this "luxury" was part of the facilities. When I got to my room I was pleasantly relieved that everything was as expected, clean, modern, well designed and spaces were cleverly thought out. At first I did not realize what I thought to be a big headboard fixture, was actually an armoire of shelves- that was a nice surprise! However, as nice as the room was, I was always depressed in the morning- I had looked forward to being able to enjoy a nice cup of coffee in my room, looking out of my windows and enjoying some form of Dublin City sights... instead I had the dirty, decrepit and most depressing alley view and was forced to keep my curtains shut, which made me feel closed in. This may be something to think about if you are like me and enjoy looking out the windows while having a cup of tea or coffee in the morning- remember, with the exception of Parnell Street, the hotel is engulfed by alleys- big trash dumpsters, graffiti, dark dank dirty walls and streets... unsettling and depressing. However, if you typically keep the windows/curtains shut and never give views a thought, then this will not be an issue, and the hotel will be PERFECT! NOTE: If the views/area could be a deterrent, and you might consider other accommodation options, another thing to bear in mind is that Dublin is divided, by the river Liffey, into North and South... most attractions are found in the south, so depending on various factors this might be something to consider. Being Dublin is quite walkable, I was able to get to places with ease most of the time. If you can backpack and/or bring small rolling luggage, the better- I am on an extensive 5 week trip, so I need my big case, but if only travellings for 1-2 weeks, try to only bring what you need- you can buy everything else (toiletries) here. Breakfast- I honestly found the price for breakfast a bit high and preferred to just buy what I wanted while out and about. Usually a coffee and a yummy pastry was my go to, and usually around €5. I would recommend booking the room without breakfast and then paying for it on a daily basis, if you found it to your liking and budget. I've learned the hard way to always check it out first! Storing luggage: this hotel does store your luggage in a professional manner, with luggage tags for every piece you check, and only staff could access it. This was a total plus, as you may find (as I did) this is not always the case, and it's important to note it. My take away: Point A hotels are on par with hospitality, amenities, professionalism and cleanliness. The price point could come down at this location in Dublin, considering they are literally surrounded by dark and dirty alleys. Being I saved and
Excellent hotel. Excellent value!”
Central location. Great staff: helpful, kind, thoughtful, always cheerful!! The twin room I had was immaculately clean and, being in the corner of the 7th floor, had great views. My only ‘grizzle’ is that there wasn’t a lot of room at the end of the beds. A minor point, considering that everything else was perfect. Well done Point A!
GREAT experience!”
Our recent stay at Point A hotel in Dubin was very nice and comfortable. The staff was very polite and helpful...we arrived at the hotel at around 7am in the morning, tired after an international flight, thinking we will have to just drop off the luggage and wait until the check in time. However, the staff checked their inventory and since a room was available, they gave us a room right away which was extremely helpful so we could rest for a little while before venturing out in the town. Room was also very clean and spacious. Thank you, Point A!!!
Easter surprise”
Arrived to a very welcoming receptionist, who thoroughly explained everything. Everywhere within hotel was spotless. Bar tender"Pedro" also very polite and patience. Room a tad bit small, but very comfortable and again spotless. Hotel right facing Luas line-( tram) which will bring you southbound-( Stephen's Green, Grafton St and Trinity College. Any amount of eateries, shops, cinema, etc on your doorstep. A great place to stay right in Dublin City at a great price plus the bonus of lovely staff and cleanliness.
Cursed by the local road cleaner, worst experience in dublin”
My only issue was the parking for our rental car. The parking was far away and expensive for 1 night. There is NO area to load/ unload yr luggage in front of the hotel. But the hotel staff said that we can quickly just park at the front to unload/ load our luggage. But to our suprise, after check out when we just park momentarily in front of the hotel to load our luggages (i already standby at the front lobby)- we were cursed by the local road cleaner. Very horrible- people can just ask politely, but he choose to shout and cursed becoz we parked there momentarily to load our luggages. Bad experience!!!!
