I have been to this resort many times. And have always liked it. But this time, there were some new developments which i didnt like. 1. The day before we left to the hotel, i received an e mail saying my fully paid reservation was cancelled, and that was a shock. And if we would accept a refund etc. But later Agoda sent another e mail that it was an internal matter at the hotel and its been resolved after Agoda negotiated with them. My confidence with Agoda is sky high now, confidence in the hotel very low. 2. Breakfast buffet very sadly lacking in quality or quantity. Food was not replenished. I had to argue with the egg lady to fry the egg fresh etc, she kept telling me to take the cold fried earlier eggs. The food was not of the same quality that i have enjoyed over the years. Rooms are nice, service by staff always very polite. Beds very comfortable, bathrooms are spacious and nice, showers are good. The front staff.... i spoke to two duty managers about how my reservation was cancelled at the very last min, and they promised to look into it, but to date, no reply. Not that i want anything from the hotel, but to know why the reservation was so abruptly cancelled. And so others wont have the same last minute headache. Imagine taking your annual leave, planning the trip, and the resort cancels your stay at the last moment. And that to , to a regular customer like me. Kudos to Agoda for settling the issue for me.

The hotel is really nice and is a good getaway. The layout is good and the rooms are excellent. During the stay, the hotel is undergoing some renovations (such as removing the thatched roof and updating internal deco) but it's not disruptive at all. In fact, the newly refurbished rooms look great and has all the modern amenities you'd expect. As it's on the Straits of Malacca, the sea views are nothing to shout about and looks somewhat grey most of the time. The tides move about quite a distance here which makes for an interesting views. The outstanding feature is the constant breeze which is very relaxing. The fireshow is really quite a highlight in terms of entertainment and I highly recommend it. Lasting 20 mins, every segment of the show is more thrilling than the previous one. Do note they only have this on weekends or when there is a big tour group, so please enquire at front desk. In terms of flies which is a major complaint, indeed this is a problem. Although not swarming with it, a few can be annoying when having a meal and one or two may snuck into the room. The major grouse is the valet parking which is a scam at RM 25 a night with every entry costing an additional RM 10. Booked this place for a night stay with family of 5 including a elderly couple. Booking a 5 star hotel definitely comes with a certain amount of expectations. The place was good but I domt think it should be claimed as 5 star. Maybe 3 or 4 would be good. It was a long que for check in and for breakfast. I just felt like the hospitality was not up to a 5star standard. Breakfast place was full of flies. With noisy waiters. Tables cleaned late. I believe its the lack of staff effect, but if expected crowd over the weekends, the resort should accommodate accordingly. On a good side, the room and toilets was clean. But even then I spent rm 2k for a villa for a night. But it was not up to what they claimed to be. Will not recommend or go again. Quite dissapointed.

We planned for 5D4N and had a very bad time. We had high expectations but were really disappointed. Upon entrance and check in: There is ongoing renovation of the main lobby that was not made known to guests beforehand. Check in was done in an event room with some tables. Cafe moved outside there with limited function. In room: We had Plumbing issues. Maintenance responded to our call but our toilet kept getting choked 2 times. Door lock on access to balcony was not able to lock. Room was not very clean particularly stains on curtains and dust around corners and the property is generally not well maintained. Balcony is almost unusable due to Bat droppings every day even after we had washed the floor. We also had a dead bat in our room that started smelling bad. Itinerary affected: On our 1st day, we went for Kids activities around 5pm but it was not on, even when it was supposed to be. Door was locked and there was no one in there. Major Issue: On our 3rd day of stay, there was a power shutdown from 2pm - 6.30pm that was not informed at check in, leading to a lot of our plans disrupted with nothing to do at the hotel. This was only communicated to us via the room telephone the night before. The other family travelling with us received no such call and only knew because we told them. At 6.30pm, supposed resumption of power, there was mayhem. There was no power for a whole bunch of rooms leading to people being moved out at night to other hotels. Restaurants except Sepoi Sepoi and some things were not operable until our check out. No food other than Sepoi Sepoi from then on. Pool pumps were not operating with water very cloudy. Food is generally ok but falls short of what a hotel quality should be. Other than the ATV and Archery (all these can be done in under 30mins), there's literally nothing to do if you're staying for more than one night. There were a small handful of staff that were brilliant. We met Mr Nabil from Sepoi Sepoi and he was a shining star! Had a genuine smile and dedication to his craft! Most others give you the feeling like they are just passing time there and can't really be bothered. There were some things that the hotel should have communicated to guests days before check in, and offered options. Sadly, the hotel had no foresight and proper and professional communication to guests. All in all, a terrible stay and we aren't returning.
