Feeling like home”

Feeling warm and like staying at home. The owner made her 40 years old house became a hostel. It located in the middle of Tainan City, but you have to walk through the small alley to find this retro place.

Nice host”

Definitely worth the money. The house is a bit old, especially bathroom; but reflects the history of Tainan. We first arrived around 11 am and a girl gave us the keys and a short rundown. The owner came back later the night, she’s really friendly and warm, pretty much the southern hospitality. Location wise there’s a bus stop outside and is walkable distance to some of the attractions.

Acceptable”

It’s an old house, but also a dirty and dusty place. Clumps of hair here and there, stray strands of hair all over the bathroom. The toilet on the first floor reeked of urine and was so pungent I had to hold my breath. Cleanliness aside, t is also very impersonal. Other then some old Chinese language pamphlets, there is no one to ask about the neighborhood (the girl in charge when I was there wasn’t the owner and knows less about Tainan than I do) because the owner doesn’t come by. I was instructed to open the door to the hostel and collect my keys by myself. The rules are weird. You’re supposed to turn the air conditioner to a ridiculous 27 degrees Celsius. If you feel hot, you turn it to 22 for an hour then turn it back to 27. I woke up soaked in sweat my first night. The humidity didn’t help. I feel that the owner has done a shoddy job managing this place. It is more of an afterthought than anything else, I regret not visiting a place with actual staff.

Reviewed August 25, 2018

The house is an old building with new interiors and facilities. In the summer vacation we will have working/accommodation-exchange staffs. I am sorry it seemed the staff girl didn't do good clean and service, and even turned down the air condition when you still feel hot. It is a good warn for us to pay more attention to manage the exchange. Thank you for suggesting and really sorry for the bad experience.

Cozy stay”

Everything was good except that the living room could have a TV for guest to enjoy and the kitchen should equip with a microwave. Second floor's is a little old and therefore could consider to refurbish.
